​We are seeking high-energy, driven interns and volunteers for our summer youth camps from June to August, M-F 12-6PM.

​Summer Youth Programs Assistant Internship 

JOB TITLE: Summer Youth Assistant Internship
LOCATION: La Casa de Amistad, Inc.
DATES OF POSITION: Early June to Mid August (week of July 4 off)
TIME COMMITMENT: 9 to 10 weeks, usually M-F 12PM-6PM but may change depending on 
planning plus some weekend family events and field trips

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Summer Youth Coordinator Assistant will help organize and manage La Casa de Amistad’s summer programs, Crece Conmigo (2-5 grade), Florecer (6-8 grade) and Adelante (9-12 grade).  This unique position requires lots of energy and involves working with children and youth between the ages of 6 and 17 years old while using organizational and creative skills.
 
SUPERVISOR:    Humberto Delgado, Assistant Executive Director/Director of Youth Programs
    Lizeth Ochoa, Crece Conmigo Coordinator
    Gladys Rosas, Florecer Coordinator

DUTIES:
  • Help plan and run activities during summer program, these include art, recreational, cultural, leadership, college prep, icebreakers, leadership, mental health and leadership training.
  • Help in the planning and chaperone summer field trips for children and youth.
  • Supervise students, facilitate small groups, and help during large group activities.
  • Manage student materials, meals, housekeeping, etc. to be able to run summer programs.
  • Some communication with parents might be necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Experience in planning, conducting, and evaluating programs/events.

  • College Credit, if appropriate.
  • Letters of recommendation provided upon successful completion of the internship, if requested.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Excellent Communication skills 
  • Willingness to work on a flexible schedule
  • Well developed organizational skills with a solid orientation to detail
  • A self-starter with a strong desire to learn
  • Must enjoy working with young people
  • Must have own transportation
  • Bilingual and Bicultural is strongly recommended (Spanish/English)
  • Able to work with different ethnic groups
  • Computer skills
  • Must be energetic, creative, and keep up with youth
  • Strong classroom/group management skills required.
  • Being able to work independently to use problem-solving skills and being self-sufficient with minimal supervision and/or guidance is required. 
 
TRAINING PROVIDED:
On the job training will be provided for each project and/or activity.
