La Casa de Amistad Proudly Announces Humberto Delgado as Inaugural Director of Arts and Culture7/22/2026 La Casa de Amistad is proud to announce the appointment of Humberto (Beto) Delgado as the organization’s first-ever Director of Arts and Culture.
This newly created leadership position marks a major milestone in La Casa’s more than 50-year history and represents an exciting new chapter in the organization’s ongoing commitment to celebrating and sharing Latino culture throughout our community. For the first time, La Casa will have a full-time staff member dedicated exclusively to advancing Latino arts, culture, and history through programming, public events, and community partnerships. As Director of Arts and Culture, Delgado will lead efforts to weave Latino cultural traditions, history, and artistic expression throughout all aspects of La Casa’s work while creating new opportunities for people of all ages. Future initiatives will include music, dance, visual arts, murals, traditional handicrafts, film, food, festivals, and other forms of cultural expression that celebrate the richness of Latino communities. “Beto is one of the most important people in the story of La Casa de Amistad. For thirteen years, he has poured his heart, artistic talent, and unwavering love into our students and families. He inspires young people to embrace their creativity while taking pride in their Latino heritage and culture. His passion, dedication, and ability to help every child see their value make him uniquely qualified to lead the arts and culture of our community.”- Darla Hernandez Lippert, Chair of the Board of Directors Delgado is transitioning into this new role after thirteen years as La Casa’s Director of Youth Programs, a role he approached not simply as a job, but as a vocation. Under his leadership, youth programming experienced tremendous growth and transformation, particularly during La Casa’s historic move from Meade Street to its new 41,000-square-foot community center on Michigan Street. Believing deeply that educational success and cultural pride go hand in hand, Delgado has intentionally infused Latino history, traditions, arts, and cultural expression throughout La Casa’s youth programming. Through visual arts, celebrations, storytelling, food, music, and community traditions, Delgado has helped young people excel academically while developing a strong sense of identity, belonging, and pride in their heritage. The results of that commitment have been remarkable. Today, 100% of children graduating from La Casa’s Yo Puedo Leer preschool program enroll in their family’s first-choice kindergarten, and 100% of La Casa high school participants graduate on time with a clear post-secondary plan. For countless young people and families, Humberto is a mentor, teacher, advocate, artist, role model, and trusted guide. As a respected artist and cultural leader, Delgado brings decades of community experience and artistic expertise to this new role. He holds degrees in Architectural Design from Ivy Tech Community College, a bachelor’s in Visual Arts and Elementary Education from Holy Cross College, and a Master of Nonprofit Administration from the University of Notre Dame. He is an accomplished visual artist and has received commissions to create art installations throughout the United States. “For more than five decades, La Casa de Amistad has been a place where our Latino and immigrant families have found belonging and opportunity. Now, we have the ability to invest even more deeply in celebrating the beauty, history, traditions, and artistic contributions of our communities. Beto has an extraordinary gift for bringing culture to life, and this role will empower him to share his talents and knowledge in even deeper and more meaningful ways.” Juan Constantino, CEO The creation of the Director of Arts and Culture role reflects La Casa’s continued evolution and its belief that arts and culture are essential to celebrating our strong, vibrant community. Please join us in congratulating Humberto (Beto) Delgado on this historic and well-deserved appointment.
