Thank You Summer Interns!

ItSummer 2017 was a calm week at La Casa… no youth programs, last week of our citizenship course… so we started some construction projects around the building. We wanted to take a minute to thank our great summer interns for their work this year! If you know any of them, please thank them for their service!

Cecelia Klimek is majoring in Chemistry with a Biochemistry concentration on the pre-med track at Saint Mary’s College. Worked with Yo Puedo Leer and Crece Conmigo. She came to us through the Laidig Community Service Scholarship through the Community Foundation of Saint Joseph County.

Carrie Miller attended Bethel College works with graphic design and photography. She was a great help with our summer Crece Conmigo program!

Summer internsHaley Foster majoring in Spanish at Hanover College. She worked with Crece and Adelante and had many opportunities to work on her Spanish skills here at La Casa.

Santiago David studies in California at Claremont McKenna College. He worked with Yo Puedo Leer and Crece Conmigo and enjoyed keepign active with our progr

Maria Cashore worked with Yo Puede Leer and Crece Conmigo. She recently moved from the Dominican Republic and wanted to get involved with our youth and did a great job.

Briannah McCall is a student from IUSB studying sustainability. She worked on a great recycling kit for families and did research on neighborhood sustainability issues and recycling.

Miguel Molina will be attending Valparaiso University in the fall and helped with Crece Conmigo and community advocacy work. His immigration story was recently published!

Each summer we recruit interns, both for class credit, to volunteer or as part of community programs. We start recruiting summer interns in the spring. If you know someone who would be interested for summer 2018 please let us know.
